HOW TO PREPARE FOR YOUR BOUDOIR PHOTOGRAPHY SESSION

Everything you need to know to prepare for your session

Get plenty of sleep

A well-rested body is a beautiful body ready for a boudoir photography session. A good night’s sleep helps us relax and restore energy so that we look refreshed in the morning. Some clients say they have difficulty falling asleep because they are anxious about the upcoming session. If that’s the case, drink some warm milk or chamomile tea and put on some relaxing music. This should help you ease the anxiety and hopefully lead to a peaceful night.

Drink plenty of water

Water improves your metabolism and hydrates your skin. Make sure the week of your shoot (or just as a general rule of thumb) that you’re keeping the largest organ in your body happy and healthy!

Have breakfast

Our sessions typically take place in the morning and can last up to 2 hours. It’s important that you have enough energy to sustain you throughout the shoot and that you are not hungry. Hunger affects our mood and you don’t want to look irritated in the photos.

Outifts

Bring a few outfits with you and together we can decide what looks best on you.

Shoes & Accessories

Bring your heels and jewelry as well. If this is a bridal boudoir session, you may also bring a veil, your wedding gown, or bridal lingerie (PS. We also do wedding photoshoots!).

Take Care of Your Nails and Skin

I encourage you to consider getting a manicure/pedicure before your session. Nails are hard to photoshop and unfortunately are often forgotten about until the very day of the session. If you choose not to get your mani-pedi done, I would encourage you to come with clean, clear nails.
Moisturize your skin and wash your hair the night prior to the session.
When it comes to waxing, it is totally up to you what you feel comfortable with. If you chose to wax the bikini area, make sure to do it at least a couple of days before the session to allow sufficient time for any skin irritation to heal.
